This week, Bright One dropped in on the the first ever Social Innovation Meetup. Run by the organisers of Social Innovation Camp, these monthly meetups are informal evenings for geeks and social innovators to share knowledge and skills, help each other and share a little wisdom – whilst enjoying some free beer and good company.
Each evening will provide a chance to showcase stuff that the social enterprise community is working on and there were plenty of interesting projects being spoken about. As well as hearing about a few new innovative ideas, we also got to catch up with Denise and Dominic from Enabled by Design, the winners of the last Social Innovation Camp and a client of Bright One.
It is well worth mentioning that Social Innovation Camp are looking for more entries for their December ’08 camp. You can find out more about the camps here and you’ve got until Friday 7th November 2008 to send them your idea for a web-tool to change something important.
Social Innovation Meetups are run in partnership with the Hub Kings Cross, a nerve centre for entrepreneurial types in London and a fantastic location to spend an evening. We look forward to attending more of these monthly meetups n the future and hopefully we’ll see some of you there too!
