Ben Matthews founded Bright One in september 2008.

As with a lot of ideas, Bright One started due to frustration. In this case it was the frustration that there a lot of people and third sector organisations out there doing some amazing work and helping a lot of people, but for some reason – whether it is through a lack of expertise, a lack of time, or a lack of resources – these organisations haven’t been able to communicate what they do as effectively as other charitable organisations.

Ben currently works at 33 Digital, an international digital PR and marketing agency. Ben’s expertise lies in using web 2.0 and social media tools to provide visible and measurable value to clients. With one eye on his current work and one eye on the future of digital media, he has a hunger for learning, sharing and connecting online.

Ben was part of the founding group of Twestival, led by Amanda Rose. On 12 February 2009, over 200 cities around the world held Twestivals, bringing together the Twitter community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water. The initiative raised over $250,000.
