A Bright Idea with a Bright Future

As with a lot of ideas, Bright One started due to frustration.

In this case it was the frustration that there a lot of people and organisations out there doing some amazing work and helping a lot of people, but for some reason – whether it be through a lack of awareness, a lack of understanding or a lack of time and resources – these organisations haven’t been able to communicate what they do as effectively as other charitable organisations.

Bright One has been launched as a PR and Communications industry initiative to help change this.

Bright One aims to deliver high quality communications for charities, non-profit organisations and social enterprises, and in turn help them to reach those they are trying to help. You can find out more about our aims and how we are going to achieve them by clicking on the About and Services pages.

The Bright One team has been busy behind the scenes making sure that everything is in place and running smoothly before we launched this industry initiative. Elizabeth has put together a focus group of the who’s who from the third sector to make sure we understand how we can best help our clients, Amanda has been thinking about future as well as providing general strategy, Jeff has been coding away on the site, Michael has been making sure our volunteer process and policies are in order and Sapna has been looking over our finances to make sure Bright One is a sustainable organisation. You can find out more about our team by clicking on the People page.

Bright One is a not for profit organisation, so all of the profit gained will go back into Bright One to both maintain and grow the organisation or to help our clients afford our services. This also means that anyone who volunteers for Bright One knows that their time and effort is guaranteed to help more people.

We launched officially on Thursday 25 September with an appearance in PR Week, which you can read by clicking on the photo below.

This part of the site will act as a news and views feed and will be used to talk about our work as well as the fantastic work that our clients get up to. We’ll also be writing about other useful and interesting thing that we discover in our travels, so click on the orange RSS symbol in the right hand corner and we’ll automatically update you with more exciting stuff as it happens. If you haven’t come across RSS before, click here to find out more.

I hope you agree that this is a great idea – everyone we’ve spoken to has said so and we know there are plenty of people out there who need our help, which is why an idea has become a working organisation. But there’s also plenty of organisations that don’t know about Bright One who could benefit from our services or organisations that we don’t know about. And that’s where you come in.

We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to tell people about Bright One and hope that you’ll also use these tools to engage with us. You can follow us in Twitter, join our Facebook page, flag useful things to us using Delicious, and find out about the other social entrepreneurs we are working with over at Unltd World.

Of course, there’s always good old email. So if you want to get in touch with any of the team our contact details are on the People page, along with our personal blogs and Twitter streams.

We look forward to helping organisations with their communications and to helping our volunteers grow through their involvement with Bright One. We hope you’re looking forward to it too!
